Privacy policy

Your job search data stays yours.

What JobToaster does

JobToaster is a Chrome extension that helps you review and complete job applications. It analyzes the job or application page you choose, fills safe fields from information you provide, attaches documents you select, drafts role-specific answers, and highlights details for your review. It never clicks Next, Continue, or Submit.

Information you can save

You may save contact details, address, professional links, career history, education, skills, achievements, work authorization, compensation and availability preferences, and writing preferences. This profile is stored in extension-scoped Chrome local storage for reuse across applications.

Optional demographic information—including age, gender identity, ethnicity, disability status, veteran status, or accommodation notes—stays local. JobToaster does not send it to an AI provider, use it to rank roles, or fill demographic or self-identification forms.

Documents and page content

Resumes, cover letters, and portfolios are stored in the extension’s local IndexedDB database. A resume is sent to your selected AI provider only when you explicitly ask JobToaster to extract profile suggestions. When you choose to attach a document to an application, the job site may process it under its own privacy policy.

When opened, JobToaster processes the active page’s visible job description and form metadata so it can understand the role and fill the correct fields. It does not create a browsing-history profile.

AI providers and API keys

You choose Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google Gemini and provide your own API key. The key is stored in extension-scoped Chrome local storage and is restricted to trusted extension contexts. Relevant non-sensitive profile information and the current job/application content are sent directly over HTTPS to your selected provider. JobToaster has no developer-operated backend.

How we use and share data

JobToaster uses information only to provide its application-assistance features: matching saved facts to fields, tailoring drafts to a role, attaching requested documents, identifying items that need review, and restoring fields when you choose Undo.

JobToaster has no advertising or analytics, does not sell user data, and does not permit the developer or other humans to read your data. The developer receives information only when you deliberately include it in a support request.

Retention and deletion

Your profile, provider keys, and documents remain in extension storage until you edit or remove them, or uninstall JobToaster. You can clear profile fields and remove individual documents in My profile. Uninstalling the extension removes its Chrome-managed local storage and IndexedDB data.

Security

JobToaster uses HTTPS for transfers to the selected AI provider. API keys are hidden from web pages and access to local storage is limited to trusted extension contexts. JobToaster does not add its own encryption layer, so do not save government identifiers, banking details, passwords, or unrelated private third-party information.

Policy updates

If JobToaster’s data practices materially change, this policy and the in-product disclosures will be updated before those changes take effect.
